Picture This: A Hole in One

Museum canopy

On my way through the museum this morning I found this construction scene of the Robert and Arlene Kogod Courtyard. Norman Foster's canopy is almost complete except for one hole that will remain open until the completion of the floor and landscaping in November of this year.

As you can see, the opening allows workmen to move materials into the space via crane. Later in the year, we'll post shots that show how they lower twenty-five- to thirty-foot black olive and ficus trees to the courtyard floor.

Very cool!

It is indeed. We can't wait to actually get into the courytard, but visitors and architecture-buffs can get good views of construction from interior-facing windows throughout the building.

That's awsome. Is anyone allowed inside?

Not yet. The Courtyard opens to the public in November.
