Visitors to American Art use our Flip Mino video camera to create their own tours of the museum.
Have you ever dreamed of being a star? If so, you are in luck. Right now in the Luce Foundation Center you can borrow a Flip Mino and shoot a video of your museum visit. Check out the videos other visitors have made as part of the "Share Your DC" program created by Destination DC and Travel + Leisure.

Hi, I'm writing from a museum in the Basque country. May I ask for more details on the use of the camera inside the museum? I find it really interesting but many questions arise immediately.

Smithsonian was one of my favorite museums when I visited Washington D.C. a few years ago. I wish these camera photojourney thingies had been around then! What a great idea! Being able to take a video and capture yourself with your favorite pieces or collection in the Smithsonian Museum exhibits is a great way to create life-lasting memories that you can access and view whenever you want. Next time I'm in D.C., I'll definitely be checking this out!

Miren, photography is allowed in the American Art Museum so we didn’t have too many concerns about visitors filming in the permanent collection galleries and public gathering spaces. When they check out a camera, visitors are told that they cannot zoom in on any of the works in the modern/contemporary art galleries or film in specific temporary exhibits. We also have to explain to them that we share the building with the National Portrait Gallery and they need to be careful about not filming in NPG’s space.
