Paikbot Family Day

Spontaneous Art - Exquisite Motion Corpse: 4 stacked TV screens. The top shows video clips of visitor’s and random heads, the middle of torsos, the bottom two are legs!

As part of our activities surrounding the exhibition Nam June Paik: Global Visionary, American Art organized a Paikbot Family Day of activities that would make the artist proud. "What or who is Paikbot?" you ask. PaikBot lives in the Nam June Paik Archive here at American Art, and can be seen in our current exhibition. He has a unique view of all our behind-the-scenes activities and is endlessly curious about Paik, video art, and other robots. He tweets about his experiences using the handle @PaikBot, where he enjoys answering questions from visitors, too.

One of these activities was the opportunity to create your own exquisite corpse on a stack of televisions. People posed in front of a black screen and saw their image on the top television, while someone controlled what body parts were displayed on the other screens.

If all this seems intriguing, come see Nam June Paik's work in his exhibition which runs until August 11, 2013.
