Picture This: The Best for the New Year
December 28, 2011

Painting

John Henry Twachtman's The Brook, Greenwich, Connecticut is on view in the Renwick Gallery's Grand Salon.

American Art and the Renwick Gallery are open this week. If you want to take a break from all the holiday cheer, come see this winter scene, presently on display at the museum's Renwick Gallery. While you're there, take a look at the exhibition Something of Splendor: Decorative Arts from the White House too. Or stroll over to the museum's main building for an Art + Coffee tour in the Luce Center.

If you're not in DC, you still can explore our exhibitions. Don that comfortable Snuggy you just got from your favorite aunt, fire up your laptop next to that roaring fire, and take a look at our online slide shows.

Now that you're set with cultural diversions for the week, all of us at the Smithsonian American Art Museum wish you the very best for the New Year.
